Eason, Alan Ernest


Driver Eason, QX17451 served with 1 Corps Troops Supply Column in the 6th Division. He was captured at Crete and sent to Stalag 18A at Wolfsberg and from there to the Klagenfurt 10029/GW POW camp.. His POW No. was 4035.

Alan was an outstanding Queensland sportsman. As a 21 year-old he represented Queensland as a rugby union centre. Born 12 Nov 1917 in Brisbane, he followed his older brother Keith by enlisting in the army in 1940.

Alan was one of the six men killed by 'friendly fire' in the Bomb Raid that occurred on Sunday, 19 Feb 1945.
